Tim Russert exemplified a reaching across disciplines and generations in so many ways professionally and personally. I have been a faithful viewer of Russert's MEET THE PRESS over many a Sunday morning cup of coffee 'to catch up on politics,' as I put it in discussions later. I loved that this man's principles of integrity were up front, tough, and demanding of others to meet him at a level of brilliance in thinking and intelligence. In the strange way that television can be intimate and distant at the same time, I thought that he was always speaking directly to me and for me in his interviews. I felt represented. I often wondered if anyone else noticed how much this man's face was the face of an eagle, one who flies high above the terrain but sees every detail of the distance. For me, Russert exemplified the joining of heart and mind, intuition and intelligence, and I will sorely miss my Sunday morning coffee with him ... and even though we never met personally, I am shocked and grieved by the loss of this magnificent eagle of a man and teacher of integrity. The world quivers in response to his passing.
